Cologne, Germany - European juvenile products trade show Kind + Jugend is continuing to grow for the eighth year in a row, and is nearly booked for exhibitors, said company executives. In addition to well-known companies from all segments, many first-time exhibitors have also secured their stand locations at Kind + Jugend in Cologne, which will take place from September 15th to 18th this year. He is 46 years old and he has been working 22 years for Ros, almost half of his lifetime. He is currently working on The Technical Office Department, a very interesting a department if we talk about furniture. Joan tells me about his role in the company: I started working at the assembly plant, later I was with the numerical control machines, then in charge of assembly and delivery deparment, after this dealing with machines in general, and now finally in the technical department. What is the your department´s function? We create and maintain roads and structures for the furniture, We programm numerical control machines, we also do the planimetry. Within the department, what is your role? I program NC machines. I can do other things too. How you learned your job? At the end of the departments where I have, they are related, one thing led to another, and I have learned thanks to my own experience. Goals and challenges of your department? We constantly innovate. We are currently working to implant a new management program. We also create new furniture or improve the one which is already established. Another objective is the maintenance of these furnitures. What is your day to day in the company? It depends in which stage you are. if you are in a stage of creation new furniture or if you're in another stage of improvement the product already created. How would you like to see the company in 10 years? Bigger and technologically well prepared. How to combine work with your personal life? The best I can, ha ha ha.

Part of my family was already in here, my mother, my sister. I arrived to Spain 6 years ago. Ros already hired me when I was still in my country. Ros opened a big door to me, a door full of opportunities which I did not want to miss and I embarked on this destination where I am today. Ros has been his workplace in the last 6 years, Joel tells me about his position in the company and his dreams: I work in The Assembly Deparment, I am in charge of a machine called Biesse Rover 346 2. I'm the operator, the machine bores generic parts to customize, I'm responsible for that machine during the evening shift (2:00 to 10:00). Speaking about your country: What do you miss most? Apart from my family and friends, the weather of course, the evening with friends drinking wine, La Force and listening to Dominicam music, basketball, baseball. There was a food chain called The Chicken King, I miss it too a lot. On a personal level, so far , How has been the your experience living abroad? It has been great so far, I learned many things, I have contact with people from different cultures. Regarding the company, it has opened doors and taught me a profession. Dealing with colleagues has been very positive in general and I have learned a lot from that too. Which are your challenges? Challenges never end, we all have goals and dreams. Good economy, stability, family, and keeping all that good. No day is like another day. How would you like to see the company in 10 years? I hope getting better, things can improve. Why not?. In some ways is the company feeds us and cares for us. How do you combine your work with your personal life? Well!! I like my schedule. It gives me time to do my things, going to the GYM, and time for my personal and daily life.

What is a convertible crib and why?

So we have to buy a bed and get rid of the crib. The cradle is very often new and beautiful, but when the baby grows and if you don´t have more children, it won´t be more useful and we have to keep it way. However there is a solution for this; buy a convertible crib and then turn it into bed. This furniture will not only provide a rest area, also a dresser and a changing practice. In the upper right we have three boxes. These are very useful for storing blankets, linens and other bedding. The exchanger consists of two parts: the area to put the baby while changing the baby clothes and diapers. This padded for the child´s comfort and has high edges to prevent falls. Under the changing table we have a chest of drawers to have on hand everything necessary for changing clothes. The cradle has a secure handrail for the child to stand up and not fall. If we want to convert the crib into a bed, we just have to separate the cabinet drawers and remove the changer. All is done without great difficulty. The cabinet has a system to run out and get the mattress and the crib expands to the size of a conventional bed. We just have to change the mattress and remove the rail. A sustainable cradle for sustainable living

Pioneering project in Spain, where Ros1 and another four companies (not from the furniture industry), carried out a study with the CENFIM, Centre of Technological Diffusion of Fusta i Moble de Catalunya, the USC University of Santiago de Compostela and the ICTA, L'Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals. A laborious project, focusing on the environmental study on the life cycle of a convertible crib bed, in the case of Ros1. The study covers the life cycle of production of the convertible crib bed, including energy consumption and production of various elements used in its manufacture. About transport, it is considered as a set, that includes the transport of raw materials to the factory, the final transportation to the shop, to the point of use or home, and the transport to the rubish disposal. The project aims to incorporate the best available techniques and clean technologies to the production process of the the Second Transformation companies of the timber industry, minimizing the CO2 emissions to reduce their environmental impact and get greater efficiency consumption of raw materials and reducing waste generated in timber companies.
